Summer is shyly slipping into Door County - we’ve passed Memorial Day - so your plantng can begin according to WI lore.

While visiting Baileys House, be sure to visit the Ridges Sanctuary just a pleasant walk from the house. From hiking on the beautiful boardwalk, to education on the Indigenous Peoples of Door, the Ridges is a wealth of knowledge on Door and worth an afternoon’s visit. Did you know that through their collaboration with entities such as the North American Orchid Conservation Center (based at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center), University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Illinois College, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Chicago Botanic Garden, and others, Ridges has quickly become a leader in orchid research in the Midwest?

In this new year and new beginning, I have been reminiscing about the years past at Bailey's.

There is a warmth and homeiness in the house that comes from echoes of families who made this their home, whether for years or days.

I hope that in this coming new year you find as much love, laughter and family togetherness that we have at Baileys House.

This is our favorite time of the year. The colors are just beginning to change, but the weather is so gorgeous that you have to be outside and enjoy every minute.

Whether you're sitting in the backyard or down at Anclam Beach, it's a special time of the year. Take time to listen to the waves breaking at Cave Point, or enjoy the stuning night sky at Newport State Park where the stars are almost close enough to touch.
